Solar Street lights and its types.

How do solar street lights work ?

Solar street lights work by converting sunlight into electricity through a process called the photovoltaic effect. The solar panel converts sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity, which is stored in a battery. The light fixture is powered by the stored electricity and turns on automatically at night or during low light conditions.

How long do solar street lights last ?

Solar street lights typically have a lifespan of 25 to 30 years. The solar panel and battery have a longer lifespan than the light fixture, and may need to be replaced before the light fixture.

How much do solar street lights cost ?

The cost of solar street lights can vary depending on the type and size of the system, as well as the location and local regulations. On average, a solar street light with pole can cost between INR 18,000 to INR 28,000, taxes extra.

Will solar street lights work in all weather conditions ?

Solar street lights can still produce electricity in cloudy or overcast conditions, but they will produce less power than on a sunny day. In snowy conditions, the solar panel will need to be cleared of snow to continue producing power.

Do I need to clean the solar panel on my solar street light ?

It is not necessary to clean the solar panel on a regular basis, but if it is visibly dirty or covered in debris, it may be beneficial to clean it. Most solar panels are designed to be self-cleaning and will produce electricity even when dirty.

Are solar street lights safe for the environment ?

Yes, solar street lights are a clean and renewable energy source that does not produce any emissions or pollutants, making them a safe and environmentally friendly option.

Can solar street lights be controlled and monitored remotely ?

Yes, most modern solar street lights come with monitoring and control features that can be accessed remotely through a web-based interface or a mobile app. This allows for real-time monitoring of the system's performance and the ability to make adjustments if needed.

Types of solar street lights

There are several types of solar street lights, each with its own unique features and benefits.

  1. Standalone Solar Street Lights: These are self-contained units that include a solar panel, battery, and light fixture in one unit. They are typically installed in areas without access to a power grid, and are designed to be easy to install and maintain.

  2. Grid-Connected Solar Street Lights: These are connected to the electrical grid and are designed to work in conjunction with traditional street lighting. They use the grid as a backup power source and can reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.

  3. Integrated Solar Street Lights: These are designed to be an all-in-one solution, with the solar panel, battery, and light fixture integrated into one unit. They are typically more efficient and have a longer lifespan than standalone solar street lights.

  4. Smart Solar Street Lights: These are equipped with sensors, cameras, and other advanced features that allow for remote monitoring and control of the lighting. They can be programmed to turn on and off based on the level of ambient light, and can also be used for other purposes such as security, traffic monitoring and data collection.

  5. All-in-one Solar street lights: These are designed with High Efficiency Mono Crystalline / Poly Crystalline Solar PV Module, Lithium Ferro Phosphate battery with in-built BMS technology, High Efficacy LED, MPPT Solar Charge Controller and Aluminium Extruded body. All-in-one Solar street light is specially designed with PIR Motion Sensor automatically control the dimming and brightness of light, which increases the backup time.
